I hesitate to bring out any sort of “Harry Potter comparison” but really this is the closest to an HP “feel” of any novel I’ve read One word review: Retrieved 9 January His opinion of his Captain was top notch and the authour did both show and tell with op;el character development. It’s taken airboorn awhile to write the full review for this, because I never feel I can do the story justice–but then, perhaps, that is enough of a review in itself!
Matt Cruise, our protagonist, is a sweet and mature young man–a bit daring, but also not reckless; in touch with his feelings but still a bit embarrassed if he lets them show; a genuinely good-hearted human being who oppeel has some foibles but is generally lacking in selfishness.

And I can hardly wait for the next adventure! If you enjoy Airborn, make sure to pick up the sequel, Skybreaker, which is just airbonr fantastic Starclimber’s pretty good too, though not as awesome as the first two. She’s also blissfully blind to her own privilege, and that too never gets called out. The good news is, there are two sequels: A second-generation airshipman, cabin boy Matt Cruse catches a glimpse of a sinking balloon ship, and helps engineer the daring rescue of its sole occupant.
I never heard back from Roald Dahl directly, but he read my story, and liked it enough to pass on to his own literary agent. I admit that I am a huge airship fan, they have a romantic image for me once you kennetj past the combustible gas and maybe my opinion is off because I was interested in simply reading about a story in a world where airships rule if we could airbon produced helium rather than relying on hydrogen they may still be bigbut I loved it.

Kate is not only a rich girl, but she has a love for some oddities, such as exploring the strange creatures that she finds in their world. And fine, if you have to make her thus, zirborn so. But despite the pirates and the very real danger presented to themselves and others they care about, our heroes never resort to violent solutions.
